Agendus for Windows Wonkiness

I use Agendus on my Palm TX, and decided to give Agendus for Windows - Outlook edition a try. While I liked the additional views Agendus for Outlook provided, it slowed Outlook down, and so Agendus for Outlook was uninstalled within a day of use. Then the next time I synched my TX, duplicate tasks were created. My Pocket Mirror conduit did not issue the warning message I usually get when a duplicate is created because of a conflict - so there was no conflict between Outlook and my TX, just dupes. On my TX, my categories were messed up a bit but were easier to fix than this duplicates issue. >sigh<

I synched a few times before realizing the duplication was happening, which added to my annoyance with this situation, and I have been working on fixing the problem a little here and there for the past four days, trying not to screw up my calendar and task data. I’m trying to avoid a hard reset on the TX because I don’t relish the thought of re-installing over a dozen apps and their settings. This kind of thing is why my organization system is now a Palm/paper combo instead 100% Palm as it was for a couple of years.

I told my husband the tale of my synchronization woes and he gloated that he didn’t have that problem because he has a Pocket PC (Dell Axim running Win Mobile). Very true, but he wouldn’t have that Axim had I not purchased it and then did not continue using it because it was like running Windows 3.1 only with a really pretty display because applications wouldn’t truly shut down although I closed them and would slurp up endless amounts of RAM and sucking the life out of the battery (whew - that was a long sentence!). The Pocket PC equivalents of the Palm apps I use lack some features as well, so I reverted back to a Palm device. True, the PPC syncs beautifully with Outlook and I did not need to spend money on a PIM like I do for my Palm, which has pathetically basic Calendar and Task functions.

Pocket PC fanatics: do not get ticked off at me for my opinion, which is based on my personal experience. I tried a number of fixes and nothing worked. The Palm bites the dust every once in awhile, or I wouldn’t be writing this, but I do not have problems with it on a daily basis.

Oh well, enough venting. I think I have everything back to normal in Outlook and I’m setting Pocket Mirror to over-write the data in Agendus. Crossing my fingers and toes…
