The Best Blender - KitchenAid 5-Speed
Do You Destroy Blenders Like I Do?
The number of blenders I have gone through in the past 15 years is ridiculous.
I have gone through so many blenders in the past 15 years that My first blenders were relatively inexpensive, but I thought they could handle the task of crushing ice based on the blender features described on the box. And they did crush ice for a few months, until they seized up after making several rounds of margaritas.
I started spending a bit more on blenders and doing some online research to get a general consensus of blender user opinions. By then, I was not so much into making margaritas on a regular basis as I was making frozen coffee drinks and smoothies with frozen fruit.
Blender - Smoothie Maker Combo
My efforts to find a decent blender again failed a time or two so I decided to try an Oster blender/smoothie maker that got rave reviews for its “awesome power”. While it worked well for a few months, the smoothie dispenser was difficult to clean and eventually the motor smelled like it was burning when I used it. Knowing what the motor-burning smell meant the demise of the blender/smoothie maker was near, I started investigating blender options again. After one year of use, the jar cracked for the blender/smoothie maker. That combined with the motor-burning smell from the base meant a replacement jar was not in its future.
Success at Last? KichenAid Blender
Enter my latest blender purchase. I have used the KitchenAid KSB560WH 5-Speed Blender for four months now and it shows no signs of stopping. It crushes ice and it makes frozen fruit smoothies - fast. I have also used it for chopping ingredients for cooking with excellent results.
I was skeptical about how this blender cleans up: the base does not come off, with the jar, blades and base being all in one unit. I am happy to report that the KitchenAid KSB560WH 5-Speed Blender cleans up faster than any blender I’ve ever used. Just rinse it out, put a drop of dish soap in it with some hot water, put on the lid and run it on the highest setting for a few seconds then rinse. Amazingly, I can find no scum under the blade assembly as I did with blenders I washed by hand.
More great features of the KitchenAid KSB560WH 5-Speed Blender:
- .9 horsepower
- 56 ounce (7 cup) jar
- Clean touch control pad: no buttons with goop collecting around them.
- Cord storage
- Itellispeed: Starts up slowly so ingredients don’t spray up to the top of the blender
- Heavy die-cast metal base
- Polycarbonate jar is dishwasher safe, but I don’t trust the blender jar to harsh dishwasher cycles; cleans up easy enough on its own any way.
I bought the white KitchenAid KSB560WH 5-Speed Blender for $99 and free shipping on Amazon.com, where it is available in 8 colors including metallic chrome.
