You Have a Direct Line to God: Notes from My Utmost for His Highest

August 9 entry in My Utmost for His Highest

Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, ’Father, I thank You that You have heard Me’ (John 11:41)

The August 9 entry in the perpetual devotional, My Utmost for His Highest inspired these notes.

God hears the Son’s prayers–> Christ is formed in you–> You were purchased by God with the blood of Christ–> Christ’s death = atonement, you are no longer separated from God –> Communicate with the Father directly

God hears the Son’s prayers.
John 11:41 Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
God always hears the prayers of the Son.

Christ is formed in you.
Galatians 4:19 I am in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.
Christ is formed in you. (Paul compared his concern for those who did not yet have faith in Christ to labor pains.)

You were purchased by God with the blood of Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
1 Corinthians 6:20 you were bought at a price.
Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, belongs to God and was purchased and freed by the blood of Christ.

Christ’s death is your atonement, you are no longer separated from God.
Matthew 27:51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
The “moment” in this verse is the moment Christ died, and the curtain was the massive curtain divided the two innermost rooms in the temple: The Holy Place, representing the presence of God and The Most Holy Place, where only priests could enter once a year to offer sacrifices to atone for the sins of the people. The destruction of this curtain symbolizes the New Covenant which dictates that all people can approach God one-on-one, not needing any human conduit to the Lord.

Christ instructs us to communicate with the Father directly.
John 16:23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
Before Christ’s resurrection, people communicated with God through priests. After the resurrection, all people could openly communicate with the Lord and form a relationship with Him. Do not take this most Holy Gift lightly - use it!
