Multiple Profiles in Microsoft Outlook

Well, I’ve effectively lost touch with this blog once again. I’ve had a lot to do for both my jobs as well as other commitments I have and sometimes I feel like a hamster running on a wheel - working and working but not seeing a place to stop. I need to find a way to do just that - stop working at a decent hour and stop playing as well! Working online and from home as I do opens me up to doing online personal work and online goofing off…and answering personal emails…while I am working.

I set up a profile for Suite101 in Outlook last night. I set up my Suite101 email to only load in that profile and not in with my personal email which now loads in my original profile which was created by default when I set up Outlook. I’ll do the same for About.com. The only disadvantage I see is that I need to have my work plans on my personal calendar and task list but right now I primarily have weekly routine tasks and general work times set up in my personal profile and I do planning - sometimes - the night before.

We’ll see how this works out. If it’s a hassle I’ll find another solution, and it could be a hassle because I have to restart Outlook to select a different profile. How inconvenient is that? I remember using different profiles in Incredimail and switching on the fly and Incredimail pales in comparison to Outlook 2007. Do not make fun of me for having tried Incredimail! It was a momentary lapse of judgment. I should let my daughter use my subscription, though….

It will be interesting to see if I am more productive if my personal email can’t be received with my work email while I experiment with profiles.
